After reading the book, Turkey Trouble, by Wendi J. Silvano, first graders had lots of fun sharing ideas of other things to eat besides turkey on Thanksgiving. Next, the students wrote a poem in which they included their idea of what food would be best to have instead of turkey. Some ideas included pizza, hot dogs, watermelon, hamburgers, noodles, mac n' cheese, Chinese food, candy, and Couscous! Lastly, students created turkeys to display their final writing pieces on. This was such a fun project that connected literature and art to the happiness of Thanksgiving!
Today our classroom had a unexpected surprise visitor! We were introduced to Jeffrey the Tarantula who was brought in by Joshua's grandma. Joshua explained to the class that he, his cousin Olivia, and their family found him in a parking lot. But, no need to worry...it wasn't here in Stockton! Thanks for stopping by Jeffrey!
